Lend and Mend Hub Volunteer

28th June, 2023

Culture Perth and Kinross are seeking volunteers to support staff in operating and promoting our new Lend and Mend Hub, which will launch this summer in the AK Bell Library.

The Lend and Mend Hub will be open initially for textile repair involving sewing machines.

Duties will include assisting members of the public using the sewing machines at set times, assisting with the delivery of basic inductions to the Lend and Mend hub, assisting with the delivery of sewing workshops for all ages and assisting with promoting the Lend and Mend Hub at external events.

Volunteers must be comfortable with operating sewing machines. Have an interest in recycling, the circular economy and sustainable living. Good communication skills and experience in interacting with people in different contexts are essential, as is the ability to answer questions and carry out troubleshooting.

Training will be given for the introduction to sewing machines and the induction process.

It would be best if you had the time and commitment to offer approximately 2 hours per week for drop-in sessions and approximately 4 hours monthly for workshops.

Applicants will be required to hold a Protecting Vulnerable Groups certificate which will be paid for by Culture Perth and Kinross.

Successful candidates will be based at AK Bell Library, Perth but could work at any of our venues.

If you would like to apply for this opportunity, please email [email protected].
