Kinross Car Share Scheme Launches
Kinross Move Greener Organisation (KMGO) successfully launched during Summer 2021 and has been well received and used by both residents and visitors to the area.
The aim of the car share scheme is to allow members to reduce the number of cars in their household and to hire a vehicle for a period of time that suits them and when they need it. This could be for a weekend away or even a day trip.
The Kinross scheme offers members a Kia Niro hybrid car which is available to hire from the Old Causeway Car Park in central Kinross. The scheme also promotes cycling and walking in the area to reduce carbon emissions further and encourage more active forms of travel.
Perth & Kinross Council's Climate Change team were pleased to support and work closely with KMGO organisers to launch their project and promote sustainable travel modes in the area. We are also in the process of identifying suitable bike racks to be installed for users to have the facilities to cycle to pick up the car and leave their bikes in a secure location for return.
KMGO are hoping to introduce an e-Bike share scheme for Kinross in 2022. This will give users the opportunity to use a range of e-Bikes in the area.
It has been a fantastic project to work on with the KMGO Group and Enterprise and we are looking forward to see what the future brings them!
