Our team of volunteers, partner organisations and Dragonfly Hotspot put on a programme of events during Dragonfly Week each year so keep an eye on our ‘Events’ page to see if there is something happening near you. We encourage everyone to celebrate these amazing insects in their own way too.
For example, you could head to your nearest pond, it could be a garden pond, a community pond at the park or on a nature reserve, and spend some time on a sunny day looking for dragonflies. Then you could let us know what you see and submit a record. Or how about having a go at baking some cakes, making a seed bomb, creating a dragonfly from some craft materials… the possibilities are endless.

Dun Coillich Rural Skills Training Course
We are now taking applications for our next Rural Skills Training Course which will start on the 14th of February 2024 (closing date for applications is the 7th of February). The course runs for 20 weeks every Wednesday and some Thursdays and is completely free of charge. The course offers a mix of certified training (chainsaw, brushcutter, ATV, pesticide use, first aid), non-certified training days (dyking, ropes access, fencing, habitat monitoring); alongside practical work experience and skills development. Throughout the course, our trainees are given the opportunity to improve their wider skills and are encouraged to explore their interests and strengths in a supportive environment.
