Fairtrade Fortnight 2023

27th February, 2023 - 12th March, 2023

UK | Free

Fairtrade Fortnight comes along each year in February/March—it is an opportunity to highlight Fairtrade opportunities and to celebrate how Fairtrade is helping producers
around the world. This year it also highlights the threat to these producers from climate change.

This year, Perth and Kinross Fair Trade Steering group have teamed up with Co-op pioneers to launch an exciting schools poster competition. For others who want to find out more about fair trade, and meet the producers, there are a number of online events; there are some specifically for schools (infant, primary and secondary) while others— The Big Fairtrade Get Togethers - are free for anyone to join. To find out more visit the Fairtrade website.

This Fairtrade Fortnight, join us in spreading a simple message: making the small switch to Fairtrade supports producers in protecting the future of some of our most-loved food and the planet.

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know coffee, bananas and chocolate could soon be much more difficult to find on our shelves?

Climate change is making crops like these harder and harder to grow. Combined with deeply unfair trade, communities growing these crops are being pushed to the brink.

But here’s the good news.

More of us choosing Fairtrade means extra income, power, and support for those communities.

By making the small switch to Fairtrade, we can all support producers in protecting the future of some of our most-loved food and the planet.

THE ENDANGERED AISLE

As part of Fairtrade Fortnight 2023, on Tuesday 28 February, Fairtrade launches the Endangered Aisle. This will be a pop-up experience in Shoreditch, east London. It will be open to the public from 28 February – 2 March.

The Endangered Aisle will shine a light on the supermarket staples most at risk of becoming endangered from the climate crisis, including coffee, bananas and chocolate.

As part of the launch, Fairtrade will release new research highlighting how climate change is endangering the future of supermarket staples grown by farmers overseas. These findings will be showcased at the Endangered Aisle and available on this website.
