Green Living Fund 2026/27

Applications Open 24 August 2026

The Green Living Fund 2026/27 provides grants for community-led projects across Perth and Kinross that help tackle climate change while also supporting communities with the cost of living.

Almost £252,000 is available across Perth and Kinross Council wards to support projects that make a positive difference in local communities.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are welcome from:

• Community groups
• Community councils
• Charities
• Partnerships of eligible organisations

Please note that individuals, schools, sole traders and certain commercial organisations are not eligible to apply

What Projects Can Be Funded?

Projects should contribute to one or more of the following themes:

Energy

Reducing energy consumption, improving energy efficiency or supporting renewable energy initiatives.

Transport

Encouraging active travel and reducing transport emissions.

Waste

Reducing, reusing, repairing, sharing and recycling resources.

Resilience

Helping communities adapt to climate impacts such as flooding, drought and extreme weather.

Nature

Improving biodiversity, enhancing greenspaces and supporting local food growing.

Engagement

Raising awareness and encouraging community action on climate issues.

The GLF Guidance Document 2026/27 can be used to help your application process. This document may be updated throughout the application period in response to any questions received.

• 26 October – 23 November 2026 – Public voting period
• By 4 December 2026 – Successful projects announced

How will Funding be Awarded?

Proposals should be designed to fit one of the above categories and be submitted via the online form linked below by the closing date. The proposals will then be screened by an expert panel to confirm feasibility before they go forward to the public voting stage, where members of the local community will be able to choose which proposals will receive funding. Final evaluation of the proposals will be made 50% on technical evaluation and 50% on community voting.

The technical scoring will be based on the following criteria:
o Expected climate change impact - 30%
o Expected cost of living impact - 30%
o Wider community benefits - 20%
o Value for Money - 20%

Funds available per Council Ward

For the purpose of localising the decision making , the funds available will be divided across Council wards. The projects for each ward will be voted on by residents within each ward community. The total funds available for each ward, along with their respective council wards is detailed below.

Cross-ward projects and voting

Should a proposal involve more than one Ward, groups are advised to submit multiple applications. These should be specific to each ward impacted, clarifying the funding requested for each. Groups may therefore submit copies of the same application, simply changing the funding requested per ward.

To ensure successful projects have the support of the local community, proposals must receive a minimum of 50 votes to be deemed eligible for funding.

Financial restrictions

Funds can cover capital or revenue expenditure and all funding should be used for public benefit. Funding should cover additional costs incurred by the organisation for delivery of the project and should not cover costs for staff time, materials or services covered under existing contracts.

Funding is expected to be disbursed by 18 December 2026 and should be spent by 31 December 2027. Any unspent funding must be returned to Perth & Kinross Council unless prior agreement for an extension has been reached with the Council in exceptional circumstances.
