Perth & Kinross Council launched a drawing and sculpture competition for all students who live or study in the Perth and Kinross area in August-September 2021. The competition targeted each of the five priority areas we have identified for Perth and Kinross where we need to make urgent chances to tackle and adapt to climate change, as well as a category or general action. The themes were as follows:

Theme 1 - General: To address climate change I would like Perth and Kinross to...

Theme 2 - Transport: I want to see the way we move around Perth and Kinross changing by...

Theme 3 – Energy: Homes of the future are/have...

Theme 4 – Land and water: In my local park I would like to see...

Theme 5 – Business & Industry: My idea for a future business is...

Theme 6 - Waste (Sculpture): Create a sculpture out of items that would go in the recycling bin that makes a statement about climate change.

The winner of each category received a prize worth £75 while the runner ups received a prize worth £45 in the form of vouchers for local outdoors activities (locations included: Willowgate, Loch Tay Safaris, Perthshire Wildlife Safaris).

The competition entries were displayed in our COP26 pop-up shop, Perth Museum, PKC’s projector site at Mill Street Perth, as well as in Perth Concert Hall.

Mill Street

The artwork submitted to our COP26 Student Art Competition was displayed on Mill Street from October 29th through to the end of COP. Students were asked to create their own vision of a future Perth and Kinross with respect to climate change, transport, waste, energy, land use and business and industry.
